This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Developing and spearheading Achieve Life Sciences’ patient advocacy strategy for cytisinicline, fostering trusted relationships with patient advocacy organizations, public health coalitions, and community leaders within the nicotine-dependence and tobacco-control sectors.
• Ensuring that patient insights and advocacy viewpoints are incorporated into decision-making processes across clinical development, market access, and commercialization.
• Acting as the Company’s representative at external advocacy conferences, coalition meetings, and patient-oriented events, serving as the main liaison between Achieve Life Sciences and the patient advocacy community.
• Leading the formulation and implementation of Achieve Life Sciences’ public policy strategy, assessing the federal and state policy landscape concerning tobacco control, nicotine-dependence treatment, and smoking-cessation coverage.
• Identifying legislative and regulatory opportunities and threats pertinent to cytisinicline, and crafting positioning and messaging to further the Company’s policy objectives.
• Ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies governing lobbying, political activities, and advocacy engagement.
• Building and leading the Company's collaboration with lobbyist groups, trade associations, and public health coalitions — including entities such as the American Lung Association, Truth Initiative, and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids — to promote shared policy goals that enhance patient access.
• Managing relationships with external lobbying firms and consultants, directing lobbying strategies and priorities in alignment with the Company’s commercial and policy goals.
• Cultivating connections with federal and state policymakers and their staff, positioning Achieve Life Sciences as a credible voice in the nicotine-dependence treatment policy arena.
• Establishing and leading the patient advocacy and public policy function, recruiting and developing talent to support the Company’s expansion.
• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, political science, or a related field; an advanced degree (JD, MPH, or MBA) is preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or advocacy, with significant experience in the healthcare or biopharmaceutical sectors.
• Proven track record in building and leading coalitions among lobbyist groups, trade associations, and patient advocacy organizations, with established relationships in tobacco-control and public health policy.
• Experience navigating federal and state legislative and regulatory processes related to healthcare and tobacco/nicotine policy.
