ETL Developer, Python, PostgreSQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design and create Python components for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

• Transition ETL pipelines from IBM Datastage and Oracle to Python and PostgreSQL.

• Extract data from diverse sources, transform it following business rules, and load it into PostgreSQL databases.

• Work collaboratively with data architects and stakeholders to comprehend data requirements.

• Model data flows and establish transformation logic.

• Implement SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions in PostgreSQL.

• Enhance ETL processes for better performance, scalability, and efficient resource utilization.

• Conduct query tuning in PostgreSQL.

• Develop and maintain data validation and quality control measures, including automated tests, reconciliation scripts, and alerts for data anomalies.

• Oversee ETL jobs and ensure database health.

• Identify failures and performance issues, implementing fixes or improvements as needed.

• Document ETL processes, data dictionaries, lineage, and operational runbooks.

• Resolve cross-system data issues.

• Engage in incident response, providing root cause analysis and remediation strategies.

• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and enhance team standards and best practices.

• Contribute to technology refresh initiatives, modernization of legacy systems, and migration to cloud and open-source platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong knowledge and several years of practical experience in Python development.

• Proficient in Postgres and SQL.

• ETL experience is advantageous.

• Excellent analytical abilities.

• Proficient command of English, both verbal and written.

• Experience with IBM Datastage and Oracle.

• Background in query tuning and optimization of ETL processes.

• Experience in building data validation and quality checks.

• Experience in monitoring ETL jobs and database health.

• Experience in documenting ETL processes, data dictionaries, lineage, and operational runbooks.

• Background in troubleshooting cross-system data issues and participating in incident response.

• Ability to engage in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
