ETL Data Engineer – Informatica, IICS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and deploy data integration solutions utilizing IICS (Cloud Data Integration, Application Integration, Data Quality, Data Synchronization).

• Construct ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data between cloud and on-premises systems (SaaS, databases, data lakes, data warehouses).

• Implement secure and efficient integration patterns through IICS mapping tasks, mappings, tasks, and parameterization.

• Create and maintain reusable templates, mappings, and components to expedite delivery.

• Collaborate with architects, data engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to establish integration requirements and data contracts.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents; conduct root cause analysis and implement necessary fixes.

• Automate deployments and CI/CD for IICS artifacts (Dev → Test → Prod), including version control, changelogs, and release notes.

• Establish monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks for integrations.

• Enforce data quality standards and profiling; collaborate with business teams to rectify data quality issues.

• Prepare technical documentation, including design documents, runbooks, data flow diagrams, and support guides.

• Support platform governance covering connectivity, security, access controls, best practices, and cost optimization.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6-8+ years of practical experience in data integration/ETL roles.

• Strong hands-on experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) — Cloud Data Integration and Application Integration is highly preferred.

• Proficient in SQL with the capability to read and enhance medium to high complexity SQL code.

• In-depth understanding of data modeling concepts (Star Schema, Medallion architecture), ETL/ELT principles, mapping designs, pushdown optimization, and performance tuning.

• Experience integrating with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server), cloud data stores (Databricks), and SaaS APIs (Salesforce, Workday, etc.).

• Familiarity with JSON, XML, REST/SOAP APIs, and data serialization formats.

• SQL expertise for transformation, validation, and performance optimization.

• Experience with source control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities in production environments.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

• Informatica Cloud / Cloud Data Integration certification is preferred but not required.

• Experience with Informatica PowerCenter and migration to IICS is preferred but not required.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native storage solutions (S3, ADLS) is preferred but not required.

• Experience with data warehouse platforms and ELT patterns is preferred but not required.

• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and GDPR/data privacy controls is preferred but not required.
