This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Assist NOAA/NMFS with consultations under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 7 concerning listed species and designated critical habitats.
• Evaluate federal actions that impact ESA-listed species and their critical habitats.
• Perform research utilizing the most reliable scientific and commercial data available.
• Compose biological opinions, letters of concurrence, and other pertinent consultation documents.
• Create environmental baselines, action descriptions, and analyses of effects.
• Assess consultation requests and pinpoint any information deficiencies.
• Collaborate with federal agencies and applicants throughout the consultation process.
• Assist in multiple consultation efforts while providing technical support.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is generally expected.
• Familiarity with ESA Section 7 consultations, protected species, environmental reviews, or natural resource regulations.
• Strong skills in scientific research, analytical thinking, and technical writing.
• Capability to synthesize scientific data into clear and defensible analyses.
• Proficiency in coordinating with federal agencies and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and acquire necessary credentials.
• Prior experience in preparing biological opinions, letters of concurrence, environmental baselines, or effects analyses is preferred.
• Experience with listed marine or anadromous species and their critical habitats is preferred.
