Equipment Project Engineer

📋 Description

• The HVAC Equipment Complex Projects Engineer is a key member of our Building Solutions North America division at Johnson Controls.

• Become part of our team of Engineers focused on designing larger, more intricate HVAC Equipment projects for clients across the U.S.

• You will be responsible for supporting complex equipment projects, ensuring their completion is precise, timely, adheres to the contractual scope, and aligns with customer expectations.

• Collaborate with the sales team and project management to strike an effective balance between customer satisfaction in data centers and project financial outcomes.

• Oversee project Profit and Loss (P&L) and ensure customer satisfaction across all assigned projects.

• Work closely with various branch administrations to manage execution of backlogs, scheduling, and forecasting projects up to two years ahead.

• Take an active role in managing the project turnover process between equipment sales and execution of equipment orders.

• Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to create and provide engineered equipment submittals that comply with contract drawings, site coordination, and installation needs.

• Adhere to standardized guidelines for generating submittals, which includes final coil selection, coordination of coil hand, fan selection, chiller performance verification, and configuration options that align with schedule, drawing, and specification demands.

• Assess the contractual scope of supply and the implications of client-issued bulletins, field directives, and/or changes in scheduling.

• Work in coordination with project team members to ensure that cross-scope items are identified, assigned, and managed correctly to achieve project success and customer satisfaction.

• Conduct associated cost estimations, prepare proposals, and collaborate with sales in negotiating final settlement prices and obtaining customer acceptance resulting from changes in the scope of supply/change orders.

• Oversee the factory equipment order process to guarantee technical and commercial compliance with contract documents and site coordination requirements.

• Create the technical content for Purchase Orders regarding field-purchased materials and equipment.

• Select, order, and monitor the delivery of materials and equipment for the projects assigned to you.

• Work with logistics to meet factory and project schedule requirements, reviewing equipment order status reports as necessary to identify any critical delivery needs.

• Ensure that project documentation meets contract requirements, Johnson Controls standards, and adheres to the formal Johnson Controls equipment order execution process.

• Coordinate customer training needs with local Johnson Controls service teams.

• Liaise between the HVAC Branch and the Customer to ensure that Johnson Controls receives complete payment upon project completion.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• A minimum of 3 years of operations management experience or mechanical engineering experience.

• Experience in project management.

• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and related fields.

• Proven ability to lead large, complex projects with extensive execution teams, demonstrating professionalism, cooperation, and persistence.

• AutoCAD experience is preferred.
