This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct physical electrical engineering design for substations at HV and EHV voltage levels, which includes general arrangements, electrical plans and sections, grounding, raceway, shielding, and lighting plans and details.
• Execute protection and control engineering design, encompassing relaying one-lines, AC/DC schematics, metering, SCADA, station communications, automation, and security systems.
• Interpret and create substation physical drawings, including operational one-lines, electrical plans and sections, foundation layouts, and grounding layouts.
• Support senior engineers with various engineering studies.
• Generate engineered drawings, technical reports, project correspondence, and other essential project documentation.
• Collaborate with different engineering disciplines to evaluate the impacts of design modifications.
• Conduct quality control reviews whenever applicable.
• Offer technical guidance, direction, and support to project teams as required.
• Assist in proposal preparation under the direction of the project engineer.
• Provide drawing counts and man-hour estimates for assigned projects.
• Aid in the development of processes and procedures aimed at enhancing project execution efficiency.
• Keep accurate records and maintain files.
• Create and deliver technical presentations for training and staff development purposes.
• Assist project engineers by providing technical support to field personnel during construction.
• Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution, with a preference for Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant substation engineering experience.
• Knowledge of electric infrastructure and substation engineering theories and principles.
• Proficiency in engineering programs and software such as SKM, ASPEN, ETAP, CDEGS, or vendor-specific software.
• Competence in applying fundamental substation engineering theories and principles.
• Preferably experienced with Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) turnkey projects for electric utilities.
• Familiarity with the Bentley ProjectWise data management system is preferred.
• Engineer In Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
• Understanding of the functionality and application of key substation electrical and control house equipment.
• Experience working on EPC projects or equivalent contracts is preferred.
• Construction support experience is preferred.
• Awareness of quality and quality control processes within the power/consulting industry.
