This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the environmental permitting strategy for large-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage initiatives, creating effective pathways to obtain approvals while preserving project options.
• Assess and analyze preliminary opportunities and acquisition targets, identifying environmental limitations, prospects, scheduling risks, and financial implications.
• Offer expertise in biological and natural resources to assist with survey planning, study implementation, data analysis, and the preparation of permit applications, site plans, and other environmental documentation.
• Collaborate closely with legal, financial, engineering, development, construction, and operations teams to incorporate environmental needs into project designs, timelines, and execution strategies.
• Manage environmental consultants and represent Longroad in communications with regulatory and resource agencies to facilitate permitting, compliance, and environmentally sound project design.
• Provide guidance on environmental compliance during the construction phase and assist with community engagement, stakeholder outreach, and public-facing permitting efforts, as required.
• Represent Longroad in relevant industry and natural resource forums.
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, land use, natural resources, environmental science, biology, or a related discipline.
• 7-10+ years of experience in environmental impact assessment, permitting, and compliance, ideally in energy development, power generation, or transmission.
• Proven experience with federal, state, and local environmental permitting processes and compliance requirements.
• Strong technical knowledge of energy development issues, including wildlife and habitat assessments, biological resources, cultural resources, and associated environmental challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, and communicate project risks that impact scheduling, budgeting, and permitting strategies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, and project management expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 40%, with trips lasting up to one week at a time.
