Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist – Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Ensure the safety of operations throughout the ONW India region.

• Offer technical EHS support, oversight, and implementation of GE Vernova and ONW EHS standards.

• Assist the broader ONW COE EHS team in cultivating a cohesive EHS culture.

• Oversee GE Vernova employees and contingent workers, distributing EHS resources across the region to facilitate service activities.

• Provide technical advice for EHS management during GE Vernova operations, which includes significant upgrades and blade services.

• Direct site/cluster EHS teams to create, execute, and oversee the EHS Management System.

• Enforce GE Vernova Life Saving Rules, EHS programs, and procedures that comply with both company and local regulations.

• Promote EHS and regulatory compliance at service sites within India.

• Collaborate with hub leaders, service site leads, MCU leaders, and blade services concerning EHS programs and training.

• Establish and track KPIs for health and safety initiatives and accountability throughout the India region.

• Support and guide Operations teams in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

• Communicate with customers, contractors/subcontractors, emergency services, and regulatory agencies regarding EHS issues.

• Deliver and assist in the development of EHS training and maintain competency and training records.

• Conduct audits and inspections, manage third-party EHS evaluations, and ensure timely resolution of findings.

• Foster a positive EHS culture, STOP WORK Authority, EHS incentive programs, and Just and Fair Cause processes.

• Lead EHS meetings with GE, partners, subcontractors, and other external parties.

• Guide teams in problem-solving, root cause identification, and the development of practical solutions.

• Support additional business requirements, including governance audits and EHS assistance requested by the EHS COE team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, etc.).

• 10–15 years of progressive experience in health and safety roles, preferably in a cross-functional, multinational organization.

• Degree or professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., ASP, CSP, RLI, NEBOSH IGC preferred).

• Strong leadership and influencing abilities, with the capacity to inspire teams across diverse cultures and geographies.

• In-depth knowledge of EHS management systems, international standards, and local safety regulations.

• Willingness to travel 50–60% of the time (both domestically and internationally).

• Proven expertise in EHS Risk Assessment, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), EHS Auditing, Regulatory Compliance, and the design/implementation of EHS Management Systems.

• Comprehensive understanding of service site environments and High-Risk Operations (HRO).

• Demonstrated experience in two or more of the following areas: Electrical Safety, LOTO requirements, Crane Safety, Construction Safety, Fall Prevention, or Confined Space entry.

• Outstanding skills in influence and communication, resilience, change management, performance/resource/conflict management, employee relations, team engagement, and goal setting.

• Proven capability to organize, motivate, and drive change within cross-functional teams.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the confidence to facilitate training for varied audiences.

• Good physical condition and fitness are required for site visits and climbing wind turbines.

• High-energy, self-starting mentality, and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
