β’ Address and resolve issues with execution. When internal challenges impede growth β such as a leaky funnel, ineffective handoff between marketing and sales, functions lacking clear metrics, or an unstructured upsell process β take initiative, diagnose swiftly, and manage the solution from start to finish. This means implementing changes rather than merely recommending them. Evaluate the impact of your actions, and once achieved, move on.
β’ Establish new capabilities from the ground up. For projects that require a new go-to-market (GTM) strategy, entry into a new market, development of a new product surface, or the creation of a new channel β navigate through uncertainty, identify effective strategies, lay the groundwork, staff appropriately, and ensure a smooth transition for scaling independently. You are the catalyst, not the ongoing driver.
β’ Take ownership of a segment of the company's Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and manage the metrics from start to finish. This is about ownership, not mere coordination.
β’ Redesign commercial processes that currently lack structure β including upsell strategies, pricing implementations, professional services, and partnerships β and establish an operating rhythm that ensures predictability.
β’ Execute targeted GTM strategies from identifying prospects to closing deals when the company requires a focused, founder-driven effort on a particular segment or group of accounts.
β’ Fill leadership voids within a function until the appropriate full-time hire is in place β ensuring a smooth transition when that individual arrives.
β’ Collaborate across functions such as product, marketing, sales, Revenue Operations, and customer success β making necessary decisions and taking ownership of the results.
β’ One of the following backgrounds is essential β
β’ - A former founder with a strong focus on GTM (sales, partnerships, growth, or revenue operations) who has successfully driven a 0β1 initiative from concept to traction, OR
β’ - 4β8 years of experience in a GTM or commercial role (sales, business development, growth) at a high-growth Series B+ SaaS startup β experience in a Chief of Staff or Founder's Office is a plus, but not a replacement for commercial ownership, OR
β’ - Experience in a Founder's Office or as Chief of Staff at a Unicorn-stage startup, where your contributions directly influenced revenue or GTM outcomes β rather than solely focusing on strategy and reporting.
β’ Demonstrated ability to drive results β you have taken accountability for metrics trending positively.
β’ Strong GTM instincts β you understand how to build a pipeline, close deals, and effectively engage with individuals (or through a cold outreach) to initiate progress.
β’ A strong inclination for action with minimal tolerance for bureaucratic processes β you operate quickly, adapt on the go, and do not wait for an ideal brief.
β’ A solid analytical foundation β you can assess opportunities, rigorously evaluate business cases, and make data-driven decisions without needing support for modeling.
β’ Entrepreneurial resilience β you have thrived in resource-limited settings, taken on diverse roles, and delivered projects that were not fully defined at the outset.
β’ An effective cross-functional collaborator β you can harmonize teams without formal authority, communicate succinctly, and manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
