This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Conduct independent business valuations to inform credit and risk management decisions.
• Offer research assistance on industry evaluations and valuation trends throughout the bank.
• Aid the Commercial Credit division with portfolio-related projects.
• Execute intricate analytical, valuation, and financial modeling tasks for leveraged loan credit underwriting.
• Utilize S&P Capital IQ for relative valuation assessments with guideline public companies and prior M&A transactions.
• Calculate enterprise value through discounted cash flow models, assessing projected performance, WACC, terminal growth rate, and various assumptions.
• Develop projection models in Microsoft Excel leveraging the Bank’s advanced Leveraged Finance framework.
• Evaluate projections by analyzing industry data, historical performance, quality of earnings reports, and appropriate add-backs.
• Collaborate with deal teams to gather comparable companies and review projection assumptions.
• Conduct industry research utilizing S&P Capital IQ, IBISWorld, Kroll, and daily publications.
• Maintain a valuation database and track year-over-year changes in metrics.
• Report enterprise value for the bank's portfolio and evaluate aggregate metrics.
• Identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report risks within the Bank’s risk appetite.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
• 2–5 years of experience in credit analysis or valuation, preferably within Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, or a relevant industry vertical.
• Proficient in analyzing data and effectively presenting conclusions.
• Strong skills in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of valuation principles including market comps, free cash flow, EBITDA, present value, and WACC.
• Familiarity with the Bank's internal applications is advantageous.
• CFA designation or in progress is a plus.
• Possess highly developed quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
• Capable of synthesizing extensive information into coherent and comprehensible financial models.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects.
