
Enterprise Sales Engineer – Data Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Serve as a technical expert on all facets of Actian, with a key emphasis on Data Governance, Catalog, and Observability.
• Partner with the Sales team to identify and secure new business opportunities.
• Deliver strategic pre-sales assistance for sales initiatives, including needs assessment, technology evaluation, requirements specification, and project scoping.
• Develop and present outstanding product presentations and demonstrations tailored to meet the requirements of prospects, customers, or internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with customers on proof-of-concept projects in a competitive landscape.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors, positioning Actian effectively in relation to them.
• Offer guidance on resolving specific technical challenges faced by customers.
• Work with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to continually enhance Actian’s products and promotional strategies.
• Conduct research on companies and prospects to identify their business challenges and needs, providing insights to customers to support our recommendations.
• Achieve expertise in our products’ features, advantages, presentations, and their application to customer requirements.
• Provide proactive assistance to customers and prospects aimed at facilitating sales.
• Build and sustain positive customer relationships, ensuring follow-up on opportunities.
• Act as the customer advocate and liaison for product management and development teams.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a pre-sales or post-sales technical role working directly with customers.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
• Exceptional presentation skills to both technical and executive audiences, whether spontaneously on a whiteboard or through prepared presentations and demonstrations.
• Comprehensive understanding of the data intelligence ecosystem and its workflows, from source systems, ETL processes, to data platforms and analytics tools.
• Strong expertise in Data Catalog, integration, databases, data warehouses, and data processing methodologies.
• Extensive hands-on experience with SQL and SQL analytics.
• Proven track record of success in selling data and/or analytics software to enterprise clients, including skills in identifying key stakeholders, crafting value propositions, and recognizing compelling events.
• Familiarity with relational databases and large-scale analytics database technologies (e.g., Oracle, Informix, SQL Server, Snowflake, Netezza, Teradata, etc.).
• Experience with common BI and data exploration tools (e.g., PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, etc.).
• Understanding of large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure).
• Experience in implementing ETL pipelines using both custom and packaged tools.
• Proficiency in utilizing GCP, AWS, and/or Azure Services.
• Background in supporting enterprise SaaS software.
