This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, implement, and manage enterprise virtualization environments utilizing VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, or equivalent, along with Microsoft Azure-hosted virtual infrastructure.
• Provision, configure, and oversee Windows Server and Linux virtual machines for production, testing, and development workloads.
• Monitor the performance and capacity of the infrastructure while addressing compute and storage bottlenecks.
• Apply patches, security updates, and firmware enhancements to hypervisors, guest operating systems, and related hardware.
• Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, File/Print services, and perform standard Linux administrative tasks.
• Design and sustain backup, replication, and disaster recovery procedures; engage in disaster recovery testing and documentation.
• Support and manage SAN/NAS storage systems associated with virtualization infrastructure.
• Maintain system diagrams, standard operating procedures, and configuration standards.
• Address infrastructure incidents and conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Automate routine infrastructure tasks utilizing PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to ensure compliance, availability, and performance standards are met.
• Assess and suggest tools, platforms, and practices to enhance infrastructure reliability and efficiency.
• Complete additional special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 3+ years of practical experience managing enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or equivalent).
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux server administration within a production environment.
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions tailored for virtualized settings.
• Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, load balancing) as they relate to virtualized infrastructure.
• Familiarity with storage technologies (SAN/NAS, iSCSI, NFS) in a virtualized environment.
• Experience with scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, or similar) for managing infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document processes for a distributed team.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration sufficient to support hybrid on-premises/Azure infrastructure.
