This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide and facilitate instruction in alignment with the signed contract, course syllabus, and the published course catalog.
• Attend all scheduled classes, labs, and clinics for the entire designated duration.
• Employ teaching methods and media tailored to accommodate students with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds, enabling each student to achieve mastery of the course objectives.
• A Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in English, Composition & Rhetoric, Communications, Writing, or a related field is the minimum educational requirement.
• Preferably have experience working and/or teaching in Tribal communities, particularly at a tribal college.
• Familiarity or experience with alternative teaching strategies such as group projects, hands-on learning, practical applications, computer-assisted instruction, distance learning, or team teaching.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with others; experience on college and departmental committees is preferred.
• Experience or knowledge of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
• Preferably experienced in working with Native Americans in an educational context.
• Background in curriculum development and the ability to instruct students both individually and in groups.
• Collaborate with the Department Chair on assessment and classroom-based research, while assisting in the development and enhancement of curriculum as needed.
• Adhere to college procedures and submit all required documentation regarding instructor absences, student complaints, violations of academic integrity, and more.
• Maintain familiarity with the MOODLE system.
• Stay informed about the BMCC administrative student management software system as it pertains to classroom management and student advising.
• Schedule and maintain necessary work hours for activities such as course planning and preparation, instruction, student advising, and general office hours.
• Suggest reference and instructional materials to the Department Chair and the college library.
• Implement and comply with the college’s Assessment of Student Learning Program.
• Maintain and submit records as required by the Office of Academic Affairs, Office of the Registrar, the Department Chair, and the Assessment Coordinator, adhering to designated deadlines.
• Evaluate students’ mastery of course content and provide ongoing feedback to both the students and the Assessment Coordinator.
• Provide course syllabi that include specific measurable objectives, clear grading criteria and scale, prerequisites, student responsibilities, sequencing of instruction, assignments, and more.
