Engineering Tools Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the GitHub organization, managing permissions, team structures, role-based access control, branch protection rules, repository templates, lifecycle policies, integrations, and webhooks.

• Manage Jira and Confluence, including project setups, workflows, permission and notification configurations, custom fields, screens, automation rules, scripts, and reporting.

• Administer lab infrastructure, including SSH and user access, asset inventory, and access management for individuals and automations.

• Offer remote system administration for lab and test machines utilized in hardware validation.

• Coordinate hands-on lab activities with designated onsite staff.

• Conduct routine AWS administration tasks, including IAM access modifications, EC2 lifecycle management, S3 access configuration, tagging, and cost analysis.

• Collaborate with DevOps on VPC modifications, account structuring, elevated access decisions, infrastructure standards, escalations, and out-of-scope changes.

• Work alongside program and engineering management on Jira configurations, release reporting, access management, and governance protocols.

• Triage and resolve developer inquiries related to GitHub, Jira, AWS, and access to lab machines.

• Develop and maintain documentation while supporting reliable, secure, and user-friendly systems for developers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in IT, DevOps, or lab/systems support roles.

• Practical experience managing GitHub and Jira/Confluence, with proven expertise in at least one platform and the capacity to handle routine administration in the other.

• Prior experience administering these tools during software and/or hardware engineering releases.

• Familiarity with Linux system administration, including RHEL, Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu.

• Hands-on experience with routine AWS administration, encompassing IAM, EC2, S3, and fundamental VPC or security group troubleshooting.

• Basic scripting or automation experience in languages such as Bash or Python.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• A customer-service orientation and comfort in supporting multiple concurrent requests.

• Preferred: Current GitHub Administration or Atlassian administration certification, such as GH-100 or ACP-120.

• Preferred: RHCSA, CompTIA Linux+, or LPIC-1 certification.

• Preferred: Experience in hardware, semiconductor, or networking engineering environments, including PCIe test cards and IPMI/BMC.

• Preferred: Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices, such as Ansible or SaltStack.

• Preferred: Experience with identity federation using SSO/SAML/SCIM via Okta, Entra ID, or FreeIPA.

• AWS certification is not mandatory.
