Engineering Technician II – Lab

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.

📋 Description

• Execute assembly at the component level, conduct bench testing, perform diagnostics, troubleshoot issues, and repair electronic Line Replaceable Units and processing systems.

• Carry out responsibilities in an electronics laboratory setting utilizing bench-type electronic testing equipment.

• Evaluate and troubleshoot environmental monitoring sensors, data collection systems, and processing systems down to the component level.

• Adhere to established procedures, redline drawings, and schematics.

• Fulfill assigned tasks within specified time constraints and deadlines.

• Undertake additional assigned responsibilities as needed.

• Assist the National Data Buoy Center in delivering high-quality meteorological and oceanographic observations for maritime safety.

⛳️ Requirements

• Training or experience in the maintenance, repair, testing, and modification of electrical and electronic systems.

• Knowledge of maintenance, calibration, microprocessor-based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment, and precision calibration electro-mechanical instruments.

• Associate's degree (AS/AAS) in Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

• Must successfully pass a government background check.

• Experience in conducting tests and troubleshooting at the component level for environmental monitoring sensors, data collection, and processing systems.

• Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters (DVMs), ammeters, pulse/function generators, resistance thermometers, and waveform generators.

• Familiarity with analog, digital, and RF circuitry.

• Capability to follow procedures, drawings, and schematics accurately.

• Ability to work independently with occasional supervision.
