Engineering Team Lead – Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily engineering delivery while actively contributing code.

• Provide explicit technical guidance to a small, cross-functional team.

• Take responsibility for backend architecture, APIs, database schemas, agent orchestration, and cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud and AWS.

• Develop reusable foundations and create documented patterns for product developers.

• Integrate AI agents into testing, project management, and code review with verification and human oversight.

• Create secure, scalable environments and dependable pathways from preview to production.

• Implement type checks, linting, automated testing, and DeepSource security and quality assessments.

• Ensure domain-expert review is conducted prior to merging any changes.

• Collaborate with engineering and product leadership on priorities, iteration cycles, trade-offs, and technical risks.

• Mentor engineers, assist in hiring, shape the team dynamics, and enhance tools and standards.

• Enable product developers to deliver features without recurring backend or infrastructure challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of software engineering experience, including senior ownership of large-scale production systems.

• At least 2 years of experience leading engineers as a formal manager or technical lead.

• Proven experience in developing team members and shaping team dynamics.

• Strong skills in backend development and infrastructure management.

• Proficiency in Python, FastAPI, and experience with Google Cloud or AWS.

• Full-stack fluency, particularly in React and TypeScript.

• Demonstrated history of making pragmatic architectural decisions for enterprise systems.

• Experience in enhancing engineering delivery, testing, security, and operational quality.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code, including model selection and work verification (preferred).

• Background in workflow orchestration, AI agents, or products utilizing large language models (preferred).

• Experience in a startup environment or small team setting (preferred).
