Engineering Manager – Templating

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of approximately 10 engineers within the Templating Domain.

• Report directly to the Vice President of Software Engineering.

• Guide, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing engineering team.

• Manage hiring, onboarding, and team organization as the domain expands.

• Provide technical guidance regarding architecture, engineering practices, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with Product and Design to establish priorities and deliver impactful business results.

• Take ownership of delivery, quality, reliability, and the long-term health of the domain.

• Drive the technical trajectory and architectural choices, ensuring a balance between speed, scalability, and maintainability.

• Eliminate obstacles, support engineers, and nurture a culture of high ownership within the engineering team.

• Advocate for practical AI integration across engineering and product development.

• Work alongside adjacent teams to create seamless end-to-end experiences.

• Lead initiatives for production incident management and continuous improvement.

• Engage in design reviews, incident discussions, and technical decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Lead or Engineering Manager, managing a team of 5 or more engineers, including remote personnel.

• Strong foundation in software engineering, preferably within a B2B SaaS context.

• Capability to guide technical decisions and assist engineers with complex challenges.

• Familiarity with modern web technologies.

• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and Vue.js; Python utilized for AI-related development.

• Hands-on leadership approach with close involvement in technology and team challenges.

• Pragmatic mindset towards AI and experience facilitating teams in adopting beneficial new technologies.

• Proven experience in developing and managing customer-facing software products with architectural and operational complexities.

• Ability to balance feature delivery with technical debt and platform investments.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical decisions and trade-offs to a wide range of stakeholders.

• Enthusiasm for mentoring, developing, and nurturing engineers while promoting a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
