Engineering Manager, Security Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Cultivate and guide a high-performing team of engineers. Promote a robust engineering culture centered on security, reliability, ownership, and the delivery of impactful platform capabilities.

• Establish the roadmap and technical vision for authentication, authorization, and access management capabilities, ensuring that Vannevar’s identity platform scales securely and reliably alongside the business.

• Oversee the creation of centralized identity and access services—including IdP integrations, authorization infrastructure, and SSO capabilities—that minimize friction for product teams and facilitate secure-by-default development.

• Collaborate with Product, Mission, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to provide foundational identity and access capabilities that harmonize security, usability, and operational excellence.

• Promote the adoption of access control standards, security best practices, and platform capabilities across engineering teams to foster a consistent and trustworthy access experience throughout Vannevar.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in leading and developing high-performing software engineering teams, with a proven history of delivering complex technical projects and nurturing engineers.

• Strong comprehension of authentication, authorization, access control, and secure system design, with experience in building or managing identity, security, or platform infrastructure.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in developing and maintaining scalable, reliable distributed systems that serve as essential infrastructure for engineering organizations.

• Demonstrated capability to work closely with product, engineering, and operational stakeholders to provide solutions that balance customer needs, business objectives, and technical excellence.

• Proven track record of leading through uncertainty and making informed trade-offs between security, reliability, developer experience, and delivery speed.

• Exceptional communication skills and a history of fostering alignment across teams, influencing technical direction, and establishing strong cross-functional partnerships.
