Engineering Manager – Product & Platform Delivery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of Feature Delivery for a Product Area: Lead a team of engineers tasked with launching new features and enhancing existing product interfaces. Achieve reliable, high-velocity results that elevate customer satisfaction and business value.

• Strategize and Implement Roadmaps: Convert product strategy into detailed technical plans, milestones, and success metrics. Identify trade-offs early on and manage scope, risk, and timelines effectively.

• Provide Technical Leadership & Architecture: Foster practical system design for product-layer services and workflows, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with Runpod’s platform.

• Build and Cultivate a Robust Team: Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers; establish expectations, offer constructive feedback, and nurture a culture of ownership, speed, and expertise in a remote-first setting.

• Ensure Quality & Reliability for Product Surfaces: Enhance automated testing, release safety, observability for customer-facing systems, and regression prevention. Maintain on-call health for your team’s services.

• Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Program management, Support, GTM, and Infrastructure counterparts. Manage dependencies effectively while ensuring clear ownership.

• Drive Operational Excellence: Create team rituals and delivery systems (sprints/kanban, retros, design reviews). Leverage data to enhance cycle time, throughput, and feature adoption.

• Execute with a Customer-Driven Approach: Remain attuned to user needs by integrating feedback, analytics, and support signals into prioritization and iteration.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven Engineering Management Experience: 2+ years of managing a high-performing team of software engineers, including responsibility for roadmap delivery, hiring/firing, performance management, and fostering team culture.

• Expertise in High-Scale Product Delivery: 6+ years as a software engineer developing and delivering products utilized by millions of users, with clear evidence of individual impact.

• In-depth Systems-Level Technical Knowledge: Significant experience with Linux systems internals and/or cloud systems engineering—preferably in building platform capabilities (orchestration, control planes, distributed services, networking, or storage layers).

• Proficiency in Backend or Full-Stack Development: Comfortable reviewing and contributing to code in modern stacks; experience with Go, Python, and/or TypeScript is preferred.

• Understanding of Distributed/Cloud-Native Architecture: Solid grasp of microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, data stores, and service-to-service communication patterns.

• Delivery & Metrics Focus: Experience in managing execution processes and utilizing metrics like cycle time, throughput, adoption, and defect escape rates to enhance team performance.

• Remote-First Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, align stakeholders asynchronously, and maintain momentum across different time zones.

• Successful completion of a background check.
