This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +8 more states.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers across Virta to proactively address delivery challenges, create structured feedback mechanisms with product teams, and develop mutually beneficial adoption strategies that enhance capability utilization while maintaining product timelines.
• Lead ongoing process improvements with a particular emphasis on AI-driven development. Work alongside the team to safely experiment with agentic coding tools, minimizing development overhead and enhancing cycle times while preserving team expertise, technical abilities, judgment, and domain knowledge.
• Own the technical strategic vision for Virta’s core platform capabilities. Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to ensure the architecture is scalable to meet future business objectives, balancing quick-win opportunities with long-term investments.
• Lead and support a senior-oriented, autonomous squad, cultivating a high-ownership culture grounded in trust. Serve as a strategic facilitator and decisive tie-breaker when senior team members encounter complex technical challenges.
• Prioritize the development of senior talent. Design growth pathways that encourage experienced engineers to evolve from "problem solvers" to "system thinkers," mentoring them on navigating organizational influence and progressing toward Staff/Principal levels.
• Over 3 years of experience leading senior, autonomous engineering teams, with a demonstrated history of creating frameworks, shared platforms, or cross-team services.
• Strong influencing capabilities. Promotes the adoption of centralized frameworks or shared services across various teams without direct authority.
• Experience in aligning platform timelines with product roadmaps, strategically timing deliveries to enhance engineering leverage and reduce cross-team friction.
• Technical proficiency in platform, product infrastructure, or distributed systems contexts.
• Analyzes team delivery and health metrics to identify improvement opportunities, determining when a metric necessitates active intervention versus when it can simply be monitored.
• Converts high-level company OKRs/KPIs into actionable strategies, helping the team recognize how their contributions directly support business growth.
• Fosters collaborative, high-performing teams in a fully remote or highly asynchronous setting.
