Engineering Manager – Platform Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the roadmap for Platform Core's Terraform infrastructure, encompassing a multi-account AWS configuration and foundational IAM/networking.

• Operate Platform Core as an internal product, ensuring that Spacelift guardrails, checks for sensitive resources, and mandatory tagging policies effectively support engineering teams.

• Work alongside the Security Engineering team to integrate access controls and compliance requirements into the platform.

• Lead the migration of compute resources from ECS/Fargate to Kubernetes until completion.

• Oversee and develop the team through regular one-on-ones, recruitment, and performance management.

• Collaborate with the future SRE team and other platform functions as the organization expands.

• Familiarize yourself with the existing team and current systems prior to implementing changes.

• Create a reliable roadmap and promote the migration from ECS to Kubernetes.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering.

• A minimum of 3 years of direct management experience with engineers.

• In-depth hands-on experience with Terraform, multi-account AWS setups, and container or serverless computing.

• Proven production experience running these systems at scale.

• Experience managing infrastructure as an internal platform that other teams rely on daily.

• High standards in incident and change management practices.

• A demonstrated history of hiring and developing engineers, including promoting or leveling team members.

• Familiarity with Datadog or equivalent observability tools at scale.

• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently to a technical, cross-team audience.

• Proficient with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor.

• Maintain the same level of scrutiny when reviewing AI-generated pull requests as with any other pull request.
