Engineering Manager – Page Construction Models, Ranking Models

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a team of AI research scientists and AI research engineers specializing in either page construction or title ranking.

• Establish the technical vision and roadmap for your team, balancing investments between established, production-ready models and innovative generative approaches.

• Steer your team through the transition from traditional machine learning to generative, LLM-based methodologies.

• Collaborate on infrastructure decisions alongside adjacent ML and platform teams.

• Ensure the quality of your team's algorithms across the entire product surface, including the homepage, kids' profiles, partner devices, short-form video, games, and more.

• Work closely with the engineering manager of the adjacent team to ensure both models function together as a cohesive personalization experience.

• Collaborate with Product Management to convert member experience objectives into strategic and experimental plans.

• Recruit, develop, and maintain a diverse and high-caliber team, while supporting existing technical leads.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in applied ML/science or ML engineering, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or people management role.

• Proven experience in applying large language models and generative AI innovations to recommendation and ranking challenges.

• Familiarity with multi-objective optimization or slate/page-level value modeling, focusing on the overall quality of a set rather than just individual items.

• Experience managing teams that operate simultaneously across both mature, production-grade models and early-stage experimental projects.

• Background with a consumer-scale company that employs AI-driven products in areas such as streaming, social media, marketplaces, search, or advertising.

• Knowledge of the complete ML production lifecycle, including data pipelines, training, evaluation, serving, and experimentation.

• Strong product instincts, with the ability to link technical decisions to member experience outcomes and collaborate effectively with product management.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of aligning senior partners across engineering, science, product, and platform teams.
