This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Lead and provide support to a team of 7–8 engineers in the development of RightsDB, a centralized repository for copyright and rightsholder ownership information.
• Assist with RightsDB projects, including the Publishing Deny List and the incorporation of UGC rights through DDEX.
• Guide, mentor, and offer technical direction to team members.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and growth-focused team environment.
• Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to establish project scope, roadmap, and priorities.
• Align business requirements with technical execution and define the squad's technical strategy.
• Oversee project timelines to ensure timely and reliable feature delivery.
• Manage platform operations, covering aspects such as performance, security, incident response, and on-call duties.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and technical accountability.
• Work in tandem with legal, rights operations, and content teams to adapt the Spotify Rights Center to meet regulatory demands and rightsholder expectations.
• Over 1 year of experience leading software engineering teams.
• More than 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in web, backend, or full-stack development.
• Proficient in web technologies, distributed systems, or cloud platforms.
• Capable of managing both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to achieve results in highly collaborative settings.
• Strong emphasis on user experience, data accuracy, and system integrity in legal or IP-sensitive areas.
• A growth mindset and enthusiasm for developing scalable systems.
• Skills to support and empower team members.
• Knowledge of music or media rights sectors or related IP-centric industries.
• Familiarity with content management systems, legal compliance tools, or extensive data pipelines.
• Experience with platform migrations, user access control models, or third-party integrations.
• Willingness to collaborate within the Eastern Standard time zone.
• Flexibility to work from your preferred location.
