Engineering Manager, Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and development of enterprise-level mobile applications and platform systems.

• Create scalable, stable, and secure mobile frameworks and platforms that adapt to changing product requirements.

• Lead significant architectural enhancements, platform modernization efforts, and comprehensive codebase renovations.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards, development practices, and reusable architectures throughout the mobile platform.

• Assess, select, and deploy AI-driven coding tools and development workflows to enhance engineering productivity and quality.

• Oversee, mentor, and cultivate a team of mobile engineers.

• Promote a robust engineering culture through Agile development practices, technical excellence, and teamwork.

• Assist mobile engineers in navigating complex technical decisions and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.

• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and career development processes for engineers.

• Collaborate closely with other technical teams, product, design, and leadership teams to translate requirements into scalable software solutions.

• Plan and direct major engineering initiatives, including replatforming efforts and extensive refactoring projects.

• Ensure engineering work is conducted using contemporary Agile methodologies.

• Review and endorse architecture, designs, and code to uphold quality and performance standards.

• Create and maintain software specifications, system designs, and technical documentation.

• Analyze software requirements and propose scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.

• Direct the development or modification of internal and third-party applications as needed.

• Assist in testing strategies, system validation, and readiness for release.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on mobile development.

• At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams.

• In-depth expertise in mobile development for both iOS and Android platforms.

• Proficient in Kotlin, KMP, and CMP; familiarity with RN is advantageous.

• Demonstrated experience in constructing or redesigning mobile architectures and frameworks from the ground up.

• Proven track record of leading large-scale replatforming or codebase overhaul initiatives.

• Experience in implementing AI-assisted development tools or AI coding workflows within engineering teams.

• Strong familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

• Expert knowledge of contemporary mobile development languages and frameworks.

• Solid foundation in object-oriented architecture and scalable system design.

• Experience in developing reusable architectures and shared mobile frameworks.

• Capability to assess and adopt new technologies that enhance engineering velocity and quality.

• Strong technical mentorship and leadership abilities.

• Ability to balance technical expertise with team leadership responsibilities.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and leadership teams.
