This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, cultivate, and advance a team of Design Engineers and Core Frontend Engineers; oversee hiring, onboarding, one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and career development.
• Define the team's direction, objectives, and priorities, converting platform strategy into a tangible roadmap and execution plan.
• Promote a culture that emphasizes collaboration, inclusion, craftsmanship, and creativity.
• Provide mentorship to Design Engineers and frontend engineers, exemplifying strong craftsmanship, teamwork, and pragmatism.
• Manage SimSpace's core frontend repositories, design system (e.g., Monorail), component libraries, and the overall frontend architecture—approaching the platform as a product with a roadmap and measurable quality standards.
• Guide architectural decisions and manage technical and UX debt strategically, balancing long-term sustainability with immediate delivery needs.
• Oversee the collaboration between engineering and UX Design, ensuring coherence between design (Figma) and implementation (code, Storybook).
• Collaborate with Product Management to align frontend initiatives with business goals and timelines, while maintaining plans and resources for reliable delivery.
• Advocate for accessibility (a11y) at the component, system, and organizational levels, following WCAG-aligned standards and guidelines.
• Enhance UX quality, polish, responsive design standards, and consistency across the product.
• 8+ years of experience in frontend, UX, or design-related engineering, including at least 2+ years of direct management or leadership of engineers.
• Demonstrated capability to lead and develop frontend or UX engineering teams, including those that are distributed or hybrid.
• Strong technical expertise in TypeScript and React—familiar with modern component patterns and state management—enough to effectively guide architecture and review work.
• Experience leading or significantly contributing to design systems or shared UI libraries utilized across multiple teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accessibility (a11y) standards and the ability to operationalize them.
• Proven history of close collaboration with designers, PMs, and engineers across various teams.
• Practical experience with Agile methodologies, complemented by strong leadership and communication abilities.
