This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offer guidance, mentorship, and career development to a team of software engineers.
• Contribute to the success of our Product organization, which consists of Engineering, Product Management, and Design. We work in Pods comprised of 2-4 engineers, a Product Manager, and a Designer, with each Engineering Manager overseeing 2-3 such Pods.
• Provide technical direction for projects as necessary, while also enhancing the technical leadership skills of your reporting engineers.
• Assist in the growth of the organization through interviewing and recruiting, shaping the engineering culture, and developing processes as we expand.
• Achieve meaningful business results through cross-functional collaboration with product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Support your team in enhancing their performance and work quality; make significant design decisions.
• Hire, mentor, and supervise a team of engineers, cultivating a psychologically healthy environment, embracing diversity, and promoting inclusion.
• Lead a team responsible for managing a vital production service, including operational aspects such as monitoring, alerting, and on-call duties.
• Manage constructive conflict by mediating design discussions and fostering a positive feedback culture grounded in candor and kindness.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the organization to complete intricate projects that span multiple technical domains.
• Drive planning efforts across various timeframes, addressing both immediate tactical requirements and long-term strategic objectives.
• Proven leadership experience with significant expertise in managing and mentoring Engineering teams, encompassing performance evaluations, career development, and creating a collaborative work atmosphere.
• Experience in building and operating production services that meet high availability and performance standards.
• Proficiency in managing on-call rotations and incident response.
• A highly technical manager capable of independently assessing complex technical trade-offs during design discussions, while leveraging team experts for design and implementation.
• Experience with development in Go, which is primarily used throughout the system.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, along with the capability to work autonomously.
