This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Offer guidance, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities for a team of software engineers.
• Contribute to the success of our Product organization, which encompasses Engineering, Product Management, and Design.
• Provide technical direction for projects as necessary, while enhancing the technical leadership skills of the engineers under your supervision.
• Assist in the growth of the organization by participating in interviewing and recruiting, shaping the development of the engineering culture, and creating processes as we expand.
• Achieve significant business results through collaborative efforts with product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Support your team in enhancing their performance and the quality of their work; make key design decisions.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of engineers while fostering an environment of psychological safety, embracing diversity, and promoting inclusion.
• Lead a team responsible for the management of a vital production service, addressing operational concerns such as monitoring, alerting, and on-call duties.
• Navigate healthy conflicts by mediating design discussions and nurturing a positive feedback culture characterized by honesty and kindness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the organization to execute complex projects that span various technical domains.
• Steer planning efforts across multiple timelines, from immediate tactical requirements to long-term strategic objectives.
• Proven leadership experience with significant expertise in managing and mentoring Engineering teams, including conducting performance evaluations, career development, and promoting a collaborative work environment.
• Background in building and operating production services with high availability and performance standards.
• Proficient in managing on-call rotations and incident response procedures.
• A highly technical manager, capable of independently assessing complex technical trade-offs in design discussions while also consulting with team experts for design and implementation.
• Experience in developing with Go, as it is utilized for a large portion of the system.
• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, as well as work autonomously.
