This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and develop a team of security engineers dedicated to cloud infrastructure security, data protection, and identity and access management.
• Establish and steer the team's roadmap in accordance with organizational security objectives, balancing integrated collaboration with high-impact automation and paved-road investments.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Data Platform, and Application Security teams to integrate security into Airbnb's system development, deployment, and operational processes.
• Navigate the team through intricate architectural decisions involving cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), Kubernetes, data infrastructure, and identity systems.
• Mentor engineers in their career progression, technical skills, and challenging situations, fostering an environment where individuals thrive, develop, and perform at their best.
• Clearly convey technical direction, risk stance, and progress to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Consistently elevate the team's technical proficiency, operational excellence, and methodologies.
• A minimum of 9 years in Engineering, with at least 5 years in Security Engineering or a related Infrastructure field, and 3 years of People Management experience leading a team of Security Engineers.
• Demonstrated experience in leading security engineering teams focused on cloud infrastructure, data security, or platform security on a large scale.
• In-depth knowledge of contemporary cloud security practices across AWS (or equivalent), including IAM, network security, secrets management, and workload identity.
• Strong technical acumen across infrastructure security areas: Kubernetes, container security, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud-native detection and prevention mechanisms.
• Familiarity with securing data platforms and pipelines, encompassing access controls, encryption, and data governance methodologies.
• Proven history of mentoring and developing security engineers, including through performance management, career development, and providing constructive feedback.
• Excellent partnership abilities: capacity to collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams as an integrated security partner rather than an external gatekeeper.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical decisions to executive audiences and cross-functional collaborators.
• Experience in enterprise security (identity, endpoint, corporate infrastructure) is advantageous but not mandatory.
