This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for a team, promoting a culture of ownership, accountability, and excellence in engineering execution.
• Achieve high-performance outcomes through consistent coaching and performance evaluations that encourage long-term career advancement, while cultivating the next tier of technical leadership within the team.
• Manage the hiring process, onboarding, and ramp-up for the Cloud Platform team, enhancing the team depth during a period of senior-level hiring and expansion.
• Oversee roadmap execution, manage the sprint and release schedule, and ensure timely delivery of cloud platform features across both Robot and Customer interfaces.
• Formulate and implement the team roadmap in alignment with the company's and Platform's strategic objectives, balancing immediate goals with the long-term health of the platform.
• Navigate and prioritize high-level trade-offs among competing priorities (performance, schedule, cost, reliability, scalability) to fulfill commitments while maintaining quality standards.
• Manage production reliability, oversee the on-call rotation, and handle incident response, striving for clear service-level objectives and sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.
• Take charge of cloud cost management and efficiency, collaborating with engineering and finance to ensure platform expenditures align with business goals.
• Collaborate with the platform's Principal and Staff technical leaders on architecture and technical strategy, making decisive calls as necessary.
• Offer architectural direction for complex, high-availability distributed systems to guarantee reliability, scalability, and security across the platform.
• Work cross-functionally with Platform, Apps, Autonomy, Product, and GTM teams that utilize cloud services, representing Cloud in planning and prioritization efforts.
• Actively participate in development tasks to fulfill commitments as needed and undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience in cloud, platform, or backend systems, including 2-3 years in a formal management role leading engineering teams.
• Demonstrated success in delivering and maintaining production cloud services at scale (focusing on reliability, on-call duties, and cost), preferably in robotics, autonomous systems, IoT, or large-scale distributed platforms.
• Extensive experience with Agile methodologies and the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
