This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers by providing technical guidance, supporting career growth, and offering performance coaching.
• Promote technical excellence by implementing best practices in software development and architecture.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to outline and execute roadmaps that align with the company’s strategic goals.
• Oversee sprint planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Foster data-driven decision-making while balancing technical feasibility with business impact.
• Champion scalability, reliability, and maintainability in all technical solutions.
• Encourage ongoing improvement through code reviews, technical discussions, and retrospectives.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration and communication that aligns with business priorities.
• Collaborate with recruiting to attract, hire, and onboard top engineering talent.
• Direct technical strategy and ensure the smooth operation of systems.
• Act as the technical representative in partnership with product managers.
• Report directly to the Director of Engineering.
• Transform large concepts into impactful products for The Zebra's online car and home insurance comparison platform.
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• A minimum of 2 years in an engineering management position.
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably Python and/or JavaScript.
• Expertise in agentic software development, including a solid understanding of AI tools and their application in achieving outcomes.
• Proven track record in leading engineering teams, managing projects, and steering technical roadmaps.
• Ability to nurture and mentor engineers while cultivating high-performing teams.
• Thorough knowledge of agile and scrum methodologies along with best practices in software development.
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• A blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking, focused on driving business impact.
• Experience in fintech or insuretech is advantageous.
• Familiarity with building applications using large language models, including training and fine-tuning.
• Extensive knowledge of full-stack software development, encompassing React, Django, and FastAPI.
• Experience with operating and scaling systems in AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
• Demonstrated influence as a technical lead with a comprehensive understanding of systems and architecture.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Candidates must be based in the United States; unfortunately, we do not support hires in California or Massachusetts.
