• Join a multidisciplinary product team that empowers transit agency clients to manage and operate on-vehicle hardware systems and devices.
• Develop and nurture a high-performing engineering team by providing context, guidance, and technical leadership.
• Oversee the delivery of products that encompass edge-device software, device-to-cloud communication layers, and backend services.
• Collaborate with Engineers and the Product Manager to identify customer needs, formulate solutions, establish milestones and goals, and launch products to market.
• Actively contribute to product development while serving as a technical mentor and collaborator.
• Achieve a balance between technical excellence and rapid delivery, adapting practices as products grow.
• Maintain and enhance the physical hardware lab if based in San Francisco, or assist in remote development, testing, and debugging efforts.
• Assess advancements in AI tooling and implement improvements that boost team efficiency and effectiveness.
• Solicit feedback and communicate progress, insights, and challenges to foster cross-functional alignment.
• Define and refine onboard architecture and implementation procedures through customer site visits and collaboration with partners.
• Supervise team members while cultivating a supportive, inclusive, growth-oriented, and outcome-driven culture.
• Create an environment where team members take pride in working at Swiftly, as evidenced by retention rates and employee satisfaction.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering team leadership and people management.
• Proven history of developing engineers and assembling high-performing teams while remaining actively engaged in technical contributions.
• Experience leading teams to achieve results and delivering comprehensive products that span cloud-based SaaS environments and field-embedded hardware.
• Ability to clarify objectives, decompose tasks efficiently, and manage competing priorities across various product surfaces.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Javascript/Typescript, MQTT, and SQL databases.
• Knowledge of serial interfaces (RS-232, J1708, CAN), network protocols (HTTP/REST, UDP, TCP), and messaging patterns (MQTT, pub/sub, store-and-forward).
• Proficient in Linux, including imaging, system administration, containerization, process management, networking, and security.
• Familiar with remote deployment and update strategies, including OTA updates, A/B partitioning, configuration management, and edge container orchestration.
• Experience in system validation, automated testing, observability, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and services (AWS preferred).
• Comfortable applying modern AI tools and techniques throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Possess a growth mindset, eagerness to learn, and strong motivation to achieve customer impact.
