This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Lead a Product Engineering squad consisting of around 8–15 engineers.
• Report directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering.
• Manage the team budget and plan for headcount.
• Recruit outstanding engineers while nurturing the growth of current team members.
• Oversee performance management and make necessary fit decisions.
• Establish team processes, norms, and delivery methodologies.
• Ensure predictable and high-quality delivery of work that impacts customers.
• Keep the team aligned with customer needs and the bots they produce.
• Enhance testing, validation, developer experience, and overall production quality.
• Engage in engineering-management decisions regarding hiring, career pathways, roadmap prioritization, OKRs, quality standards, delivery processes, AI integration, organizational design, on-call duties, incident culture, and capacity planning.
• Transform AI experimentation into team-level advancements in throughput, quality, and speed to production.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing engineers or engineering teams.
• Over 10 years of experience in a technical field such as software engineering.
• Proven history of hiring, developing, and managing talented technical professionals.
• Experience overseeing team budgets and planning for headcount.
• Demonstrated hands-on AI proficiency with practical experience using contemporary AI tools in real-world scenarios, along with tangible results.
• Proven track record of delivering software reliably as part of a team.
• Strong technical knowledge in system design and associated trade-offs.
• Experience collaborating closely with Product and other cross-functional teams.
• Capability in people management and servant leadership.
• Ability to build trust, foster career growth, and guide senior engineers.
• Technical credibility among engineers.
• Customer-centric mindset.
• Preferred: experience in conversational AI, voice or telephony, machine learning systems, or real-time infrastructure.
• Preferred: experience in scaling testing and validation for AI or nondeterministic systems.
• Preferred: comfort in a lean, fast-paced, remote startup environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
• Willingness to travel for in-person meetings approximately every six weeks.
