Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire delivery process and execution across various cross-functional teams within your product domain, ensuring outcomes are both predictable and of high quality.

• Assess business and product needs for technical viability and architectural consistency, converting them into clearly defined EPICs and technical user stories.

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers to consistently refine, groom, and prioritize the product backlog.

• Organize and lead sprint execution with well-defined objectives, utilizing project planning tools to set timelines, delivery milestones, and identify dependencies early on.

• Advocate for engineering processes and rituals that foster collaboration, accountability, and team efficiency.

• Track team velocity and capacity to enhance resource allocation, proactively balancing workload against delivery commitments.

• Coordinate dependencies across teams and align stakeholders to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure smooth execution.

• Remain actively involved in critical initiatives by guiding design choices, enforcing best design practices, and participating in code reviews to uphold high engineering standards.

• Ensure comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability for all services under your ownership, consistently meeting established SLIs and SLOs.

• Collaborate with Product Managers to define, monitor, and publicize post-release product metrics, fostering transparency and ongoing improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• 8-10 years of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or in a comparable hands-on technical position.

• Over 5 years of extensive experience developing production systems using Java and Spring Boot.

• At least 3 years of demonstrated engineering leadership experience managing high-performing teams.

• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery.

• Proven ability to convert complex product requirements into well-organized EPICs, user stories, and tasks.

• Strong backend engineering skills; familiarity with frontend technologies is an advantage.

• Experience with project planning and tracking tools to visualize and manage delivery timelines effectively.

• Knowledge of engineering and product health metrics, as well as monitoring tools to facilitate data-driven decisions.

• Hands-on experience in debugging complex production issues, leading incident responses, and conducting blameless root cause analyses.

• Solid understanding of contemporary deployment practices, including CI/CD pipelines, release management, and related metrics.

• Ability to align cross-functional stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.

• Excellent skills in risk management, dependency tracking, and stakeholder communication.

• Proven history of enhancing team velocity, delivery predictability, and engineering excellence.
