• Maintain a thorough understanding of your team's systems and technical field, offering valuable guidance on architecture, implementation strategy, scalability, reliability, security, and operational readiness.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management to outline roadmaps, sequence initiatives, spot dependencies, and create realistic delivery plans for both the short and long term.

• Convert product and business objectives into clear technical strategies, ensuring the team comprehends not just what is being built but also why and how all elements connect.

• Lead the technical planning and execution of intricate initiatives from the initial discovery and design phase through implementation, release, and production operation.

• Partner with engineers and technical leaders to ensure adequate investment in platform health, technical debt, scalability, security, reliability, observability, and developer efficiency in line with product priorities.

• Proactively identify technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, and delivery constraints, collaborating with Product and Engineering leadership to make informed trade-offs and adjust plans as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering teams and generating measurable impact through technical direction, personnel development, and effective execution.

• Strong technical judgment and the capability to guide architecture, system design, and implementation decisions without the need to personally oversee every line of code.

• A demonstrated history of leading complex technical initiatives from vague problem definitions to successful production delivery.

• Experience in developing engineers across various career stages, including mentoring senior engineers and assisting technical leaders in expanding their influence and impact.

• Extensive experience with modern full-stack application development, including frontend applications, backend services, APIs, distributed systems, and data stores.

• Proficient with modern JavaScript and TypeScript ecosystems, including technologies such as React and Node.js.

• Experience in designing, building, or leading teams responsible for service-oriented, API-driven, event-driven, or distributed architectures.

• Strong understanding of relational databases, asynchronous processing, messaging systems, third-party integrations, and transactional workflows.

• Experience in gradually modernizing legacy systems while continuing to deliver value to customers and the business.

• Ability to balance product delivery with investments in technical debt, scalability, security, reliability, observability, and developer productivity.

• Strong delivery and project leadership skills, including roadmap planning, dependency management, risk identification, estimation, sequencing, and cross-functional coordination.

• Experience using delivery and operational metrics to identify patterns, enhance team effectiveness, and increase predictability without simplifying engineering work to basic productivity measurements.

• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure and modern delivery practices, including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, serverless technologies, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.

• Experience in eCommerce, B2B marketplaces, financial systems, or other transaction-heavy platforms is highly preferred.

• Experience working in heavily regulated industries with significant compliance needs—such as cannabis, healthcare, financial services, or payments—is a plus.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical decisions, build consensus, navigate disagreements, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly grasp complex systems, pinpoint underlying problems, and implement pragmatic solutions.

• A leadership style that fosters accountability, develops technical talent, and empowers engineers to take increasing ownership of complex challenges.
