Engineering Manager, Ads

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Guide, empower, and nurture a team of software engineers, assisting them in enhancing their impact and expertise.

• Oversee your team's execution of Firefox Suggest Ads initiatives, encompassing backend services, partner integrations, experimentation, measurement, reliability enhancements, and product-facing integrations, adapting to evolving requirements influenced by privacy, policy, user experience, and business constraints.

• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional partners to navigate uncertainties, especially where user data, privacy expectations, or policy implications dictate technical and product choices.

• Ensure that the software developed by your team is dependable, maintainable, and in accordance with Mozilla’s standards for quality, security, and privacy.

• Foster an environment that enables engineers to perform at their best, promoting healthy team dynamics, effective communication, and support during times of uncertainty.

• Engage in recruitment and onboarding efforts to enhance and fortify the team over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.

• Proven experience in leading teams that successfully deploy production software.

• Strong decision-making skills regarding prioritization, execution, and balancing immediate deliverables with long-term sustainability.

• Familiarity with contemporary software development methodologies, including planning, issue prioritization, and delivery processes.

• Ability to work collaboratively with product managers and partner teams to achieve desired results.

• Experience in mentoring engineers with diverse skill sets, backgrounds, and levels of expertise.

• Comfort in working within a distributed, asynchronous environment.

• Background in search, ads, recommendations, marketplaces, browser/client-platform integrations, or other privacy-sensitive product areas, or demonstrated capability to quickly assimilate complex domains where user trust, data practices, and business outcomes must be harmonized.
