This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Technical strategy: Establish a clear and credible technical roadmap for your teams and effectively communicate it throughout the organization.
• Team leadership: Oversee and nurture a team of engineering managers and senior engineers. Recruit, mentor, and retain top technical talent.
• Cross-team execution: Lead intricate, multi-team projects from conception to completion, including significant migrations and infrastructure advancements.
• Operational excellence: Take responsibility for the reliability and performance of systems that are critical to customer experiences, ensuring strict adherence to on-call protocols, incident response, and observability.
• Cross-functional partnership: Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering leaders to ensure alignment of technical direction with business goals.
• Modern engineering practice: Integrate emerging tools and AI-assisted development into your team's daily operations to enhance productivity.
• Culture carrier: Foster a culture of high trust and agency within the engineering team, serving as a mentor and multiplier across the organization.
• Experienced engineering leader: Proven experience managing engineering managers and multiple teams, with a history of developing technical leaders.
• Deep technical background: Hands-on experience as a software engineer, particularly in distributed systems, high-scale infrastructure, or developer tools.
• Comfortable with ambiguity: Ability to set direction in a rapidly changing environment and adapt as priorities evolve.
• Strong communicator: Capable of conveying technical trade-offs in terms that product, business, and executive stakeholders can understand and act upon.
• Ships: Demonstrated bias toward action with a successful track record of delivering complex technical projects from start to finish.
• Team leadership: Experience in managing engineering managers or overseeing multiple teams.
• Technical depth: Extensive hands-on experience with distributed systems, high-scale infrastructure, or development tooling.
• Project leadership: Proven track record of overseeing a major technical migration or infrastructure initiative from inception to completion.
• Cloud & systems: Proficient in operating across cloud infrastructure and production distributed systems.
• Hiring & development: Strong history of recruiting and developing engineering talent.
