Encryption Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Implement and oversee Encryption Data Security Platforms that safeguard sensitive data at rest in alignment with RRD IT Governance policies.

• Administer centralized Key Management (KMS) and oversee encryption policies across databases, file systems, and cloud storage as needed.

• Assist in fulfilling audit and compliance obligations (e.g., SOC2, PCI, HIPAA) related to data encryption.

• Manage Luna Hardware Security Module (HSM) partitions for secure cryptographic operations (signing, hashing, and root key storage).

• Manage and enhance all Backup & Replication environments, including virtual, physical, and cloud workloads.

• Supervise backup job scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure 100% success rates.

• Conduct regular backup/restore testing to confirm the recoverability of critical systems.

• Administer technologies that facilitate real-time replication and continuous data protection (CDP).

• Update and sustain Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) and lead quarterly failover drills to achieve RTO/RPO targets.

• Ensure site-to-site connectivity and storage consistency during recovery scenarios.

• Coordinate through the change management process to relocate, install, upgrade, remove, and configure site IT assets and supporting infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR a proven ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of relevant work experience.

• 5-7 years of pertinent work experience.

• Familiarity with Veeam, Avamar, and Zerto.

• Hands-on experience with CipherTrust Manager (or similar KMS/TDE tools).

• Strong knowledge of VMware, vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and SAN/NAS storage.

• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and Firewall rules in relation to DR replication.

• Basic proficiency in AI integration with business processes such as information gathering, inventory, automation, and process improvement.
