This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.
• Provide strategic assistance to the Employment Law and HR teams regarding labor and employment issues and litigation, especially in relation to the reporting of legal matters.
• Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel to obtain regular updates on litigation cases and manage this information within the Company’s legal case management system.
• Partner with the VP Legal, Finance, and others to create necessary litigation reports and analyses for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Address subpoenas and similar requests directed at the Company for employee records and data.
• Support labor and employment litigation by maintaining calendars for matters, organizing and coordinating document production, ensuring compliance with document preservation requirements (hold notices), and responding to electronic discovery obligations related to litigation and government inquiries.
• Assist internal and external counsel in scheduling and coordinating interviews with current and former Company personnel.
• Help attorneys implement settlement agreement terms, including payments to former employees and third parties such as law firms.
• Manage the Amex GBT Hotline, centralized policy resources, and provide reports as necessary.
• Collaborate with HR Operations and Facilities teams to ensure adherence to workplace posting and notice requirements.
• Work with HR Operations and Talent Acquisition on applicable Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs) in the US, as needed.
• Aid in the drafting of basic labor and employment documents for the Employment Law team's review and respond to inquiries from Human Resources regarding policies and related issues.
• Stay updated on current US and international labor and employment laws and provide periodic legal updates to the Human Resources team, as directed by members of the Legal Team.
• Maintain schedules for Employment Law and other training sessions and assist in the development of legal presentations as required.
• Represent the Employment Law team on Company projects and initiatives and occasionally provide backup support to colleagues in the Legal and Human Resources teams.
• Robust litigation experience, particularly in employment law, with a preference for candidates with international experience.
• Knowledge of labor and employment law in the US; familiarity with labor and employment law in other jurisdictions is highly desirable.
• Strong preference for candidates with previous employment and/or paralegal experience in a law firm or other relevant paralegal training.
• Exceptional time management and organizational abilities, capable of juggling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing business needs.
• Proficient in digital literacy, including email, recordkeeping, routine database management, word processing, spreadsheet usage, and specialized platforms (e.g., litigation management).
• Strong skills in computer research and investigative techniques.
• Excellent legal research and writing capabilities.
• Paralegal certificate with 3-5 years of relevant employment law experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Due to business considerations, candidates located in the Eastern timezone are highly preferred.
