Employee Relations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Oversee and address the complete employee exit process across various international jurisdictions, ensuring an exceptional offboarding experience for Remote's clients and their employees.

• Offer expert advice and manage client inquiries on a range of HR topics, including but not limited to termination, resignation and transfer processes, employment agreements, and redundancy procedures, while ensuring legal compliance and adherence to best practices.

• Organize and conduct meetings with clients and external employees, which may include workforce reduction consultation sessions, administrative hearings, negotiations in separations and settlements, providing guidance on terminations, and communicating termination outcomes.

• Advocate for and negotiate favorable outcomes in complex termination scenarios, balancing the interests of multiple stakeholders.

• Collaborate and communicate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance in offboarding processes and audits, including but not limited to payroll, legal counsel, governmental agencies, and trade unions.

• Create, customize, and manage all termination and supplementary documentation with precision and attention to detail, ensuring employee records are kept in strict accordance with privacy and confidentiality regulations.

• Execute offboarding on Remote's internal HRIS platform, working alongside diverse internal teams, including Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance, among others, to ensure all elements of the employee exit are handled accurately and promptly.

• Serve as the subject-matter expert and address internal and external inquiries regarding all offboarding issues in collaboration with Lifecycle's internal stakeholders.

• Guide clients through Remote's Employee Relations resources and documentation, assisting them in comprehending applicable policies and procedures.

• Conduct initial evaluations of workplace issues, pinpointing key facts and relevant local regulations.

• Coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper management of employee relations issues.

• Assist clients in grasping progressive disciplinary methods and documentation requirements.

• Monitor ongoing employee relations cases, ensuring timely follow-ups and coordination with pertinent stakeholders.

• Proactively identify opportunities for and contribute to enhancements in processes, automation, product development, and the overall customer and employee experience in offboarding and employee relations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, demonstrating generalist HR competencies and exposure throughout the employee lifecycle.

• Proven track record with a strong foundation in managing voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with compassion, sensitivity, and legal compliance; along with providing thorough HR support and guidance on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.

• Capability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze complex HR challenges, conduct research, offer practical solutions, and effectively communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders in ambiguous and unfamiliar settings.

• Basic understanding of employee relations concepts, progressive discipline strategies, and the fundamentals of workplace investigations.

• Exceptional communication, influencing, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently navigate difficult conversations towards positive outcomes, often in situations where parties have conflicting interests, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

• Business-level (advanced) proficiency in written and spoken English, with additional languages viewed as advantageous.

• A strong inclination towards innovation and process optimization, consistently seeking and implementing automation opportunities while championing best practices.

• Operational efficiency with an understanding of the significance of meticulous record-keeping and data integrity.

• Technologically adept, capable of collaborating asynchronously using various tools, and adjusting to new and evolving systems.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an international team in a fast-paced, asynchronous, remote environment with varying priorities. Willingness to work flexible hours as required.

• Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
