Embedded Software Engineer III, Kernel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create low-level drivers and execute system bring-up activities.

• Tailor operating systems and integrate new features.

• Collaborate across the software and firmware layers for essential drones and their supporting docks.

• Concentrate on kernel-space development, bootloaders, and board support package (BSP) bring-up.

• Troubleshoot physical devices.

• Conduct continuous integration (CI) builds.

• Deploy reliable operating system builds directly onto hardware.

• Work in partnership with senior engineers, internal stakeholders, external partners, electrical engineering, quality assurance, and cloud teams.

• Ensure alignment between hardware and software functionalities.

• Contribute to enhancing device performance, operating system stability, and overall reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• Over 2 years of experience in embedded software development for consumer devices.

• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux-based systems, such as Yocto and BuildRoot.

• Strong programming capabilities in C and C++.

• Practical knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including memory management, power management, and interrupt request (IRQ) handling.

• Experience with Linux kernel drivers for SPI, I2C, and UART.

• Familiar with bootloader development, customization, and early bring-up concepts.

• Experience in developing or troubleshooting firmware for Audio Digital Signal Processors in embedded hardware settings is a plus.

• Practical experience with Qualcomm chipset bring-up and Qualcomm proprietary subsystems is advantageous.

• Knowledge of OpenWRT and networking protocols and services, including TCP/IP and D-Bus, is beneficial.

• Must have authorization to work legally in the United States.

• Required to meet FBI CJIS Security Policy requirements, including a fingerprint-based background check if certification is necessary.
