Elementary English Reading Tutor, Virtual

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide reading tutoring to students in grades K–8 throughout the United States.

• Implement the provided lesson materials and additional practice resources.

• Assist students aiming to enhance their skills and knowledge at or below their current grade level.

• Facilitate regular virtual tutoring sessions during the academic year, from September to May.

• Conduct tutoring sessions primarily lasting 30 minutes each.

• Ensure availability for a minimum of one hour between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET, typically from Monday to Thursday.

• Attend at least 80% of the scheduled sessions.

• Claim tutoring sessions based on personal availability.

• Engage in the BookNook application and onboarding process.

• Potential to tutor mathematics following onboarding.

• Collaborate with the tutor community to provide backup support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a classroom teacher, EL/ESL/ELL, tutoring, coaching, or similar student support roles.

• Preferred online instruction experience with a college degree.

• Ability to establish meaningful professional relationships with students.

• Skill in creating a supportive and motivating learning environment with constructive student feedback.

• Access to a computer (laptop or desktop) with a webcam.

• Maintain a clean and distraction-free workspace.

• Reliable high-speed internet connection of at least 20 Mbps.

• Must reside in and tutor from one of the designated U.S. states or Washington, DC.

• All sessions must be claimed and conducted from within the 50 United States or Washington, DC.

• Applicants may be required to complete a five-minute recorded tutoring demonstration.

• Accepted tutors must establish a payment account.

• Accepted tutors must provide a clear result from an in-person fingerprint-based FBI background check.

• Accepted tutors must successfully complete BookNook tutor certification.
