Electro-Technical Officer, Maritime Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee, diagnose, repair, and provide assistance for vessel electrical systems, equipment, and related infrastructure.

• Operate and maintain electrical systems in accordance with company protocols and manufacturer guidelines.

• Ensure functionality of emergency lighting, batteries, emergency generators, and backup electrical systems.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance through the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).

• Manage electrical spare parts, consumables, and maintain operational stock levels.

• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and engineering staff for troubleshooting and repairs.

• Uphold maritime electrical safety standards and the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS).

• Complete necessary operational documentation, checklists, maintenance logs, and risk assessments.

• Engage in emergency drills, safety meetings, and vessel readiness exercises.

• Supervise personnel involved in working on electrical systems, machinery, and related equipment.

• Identify and report hazards, equipment shortcomings, and unsafe conditions.

• Coordinate with deck, engineering, survey personnel, clients, and support teams.

• Assist in operational risk mitigation and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Execute other responsibilities that support vessel operations and mission needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possession of a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and/or Electro-Technical Officer certification relevant to vessel needs.

• Valid STCW endorsements and necessary maritime certifications.

• Experience in supporting electrical systems on operational vessels.

• Understanding of marine electrical systems, emergency power systems, automation systems, and related equipment.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining vessel electrical and electronic systems.

• Familiarity with maritime safety procedures and electrical safety practices.

• Capability to work rotational schedules in maritime settings.

• Strong communication, organizational, and technical problem-solving abilities.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.

• Ability to work in maritime and shipboard operational environments.

• Physical ability to climb ladders, access confined spaces, and perform in physically demanding conditions.

• Willingness to support rotational or extended operations at sea.

• Preferred: experience in supporting government maritime operations or defense-related missions.

• Preferred: previous experience on offshore support vessels, research vessels, or similarly complex platforms.

• Preferred: experience in high operational tempo maritime environments.

• Preferred: prior military or government-contracted maritime experience.

• Preferred: experience in supporting vessel automation, communications, or mission systems.
