This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.
• Executes electrical engineering tasks related to the assessment, design, and documentation of electrical systems for federal projects ranging from small to large scale, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and associated building systems.
• Utilizes standard electrical engineering techniques, methods, and procedures to create constructible, code-compliant designs while assessing and suggesting minor modifications to cater to project-specific requirements.
• Develops electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates in line with relevant codes, federal standards, and agency mandates.
• Aids in the preparation and coordination of project documentation and stays informed about project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Integrates electrical design components with other engineering disciplines and internal project teams to facilitate cohesive project outcomes.
• Updates project managers on development and progress and may engage in coordination with federal clients, contractors, and consultants.
• Conducts process design calculations, analyzes engineering data, and assists in feasibility assessments for proposed electrical systems.
• Inputs, maintains, and updates project information and documentation within Olsson’s project management systems as per the firm’s Quality Management Program.
• Identifies and helps resolve technical design challenges while supporting quality assurance and quality control throughout project execution.
• May offer technical guidance and oversight to junior engineers or technical personnel as assigned.
• Travels and participates in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering meetings.
• May visit project sites and work in diverse terrains and weather conditions during various phases of construction.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven capacity to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with relevant electrical codes, federal standards, and regulatory requirements, alongside the ability to research and implement these requirements as necessary.
• Advanced mathematical and analytical skills related to electrical engineering design.
• Proficient in applicable design tools and technologies, including AutoCAD and Revit.
