Electrical Design Engineer III – PV Solar & Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee significant electrical design initiatives for utility-scale PV Solar, Battery Storage (BESS), and substation projects.

• Develop electrical engineering plans, detailed specifications, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.

• Deliver design drawings independently, which include one-line and three-line diagrams, electrical layouts, AC/DC schematics, AC/DC cable schedules, wiring diagrams, grounding, trenching, and conduit details.

• Generate equipment specifications and apply expertise in renewable energy systems, including PV solar modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transformers, cable management systems, and balance-of-system (BOS).

• Design projects, systems, components, or processes, and prepare the required project documentation.

• Analyze and resolve problems effectively.

• Independently assess, select, and implement standard procedures and criteria.

• Create work plans for project tasks and guide discipline team members.

• Manage multiple projects and may serve as the Engineer of Record.

• Ensure adherence to safety standards, practices, and codes set by the company, industry, and jurisdiction.

• Facilitate client interactions across various projects within a single portfolio.

• Delegate tasks to and oversee discipline team members to ensure assignment completion.

• Mentor junior engineers.

• Assist in crafting proposals for professional services.

• Attend project meetings and confidently present specific engineering assignments with proficiency.

• Fulfill essential responsibilities, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, another engineering discipline with substantial electrical coursework, or a related field.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an electrical engineering design role.

• At least 2 years of experience in designing utility-scale renewable energy systems.

• Proficient in AutoCAD.

• Knowledgeable in interpreting and applying sections of the NEC and understanding relevant codes and standards.

• Capable of identifying and addressing complex challenges.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Possess both creative and analytical skills.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.

• Effective time management skills—ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision, including prioritization, organization, and planning to meet all deadlines.

• Experience with PV Repower projects is advantageous.

• Strong preference for candidates with experience in supporting large-scale complex PV Solar & Storage projects.

• Professional Engineering (PE) license or EIT Certificate is a plus.
