This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.
• Assist in the design and implementation of AC and DC power distribution systems and HVAC enhancements, collaborating with MEP design engineering firms.
• Facilitate the integration of new systems with the current infrastructure in active data center settings.
• Evaluate Electrical Engineering Construction Packages and Method of Procedures (MOPs) in partnership with the local operations and construction teams.
• Analyze short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies; offer recommendations to enhance electrical safety, reliability, and compliance.
• Engage in the commissioning and initiation of new electrical and mechanical systems.
• Assess the current mechanical and electrical capacity and brainstorm design alternatives to optimize density and capacity in the new design.
• Ensure prompt scaling of infrastructure to meet operational and customer demands.
• Possess working knowledge of CFD modeling to assess airflow and thermal performance, suggesting design improvements that boost cooling capacity and operational efficiency.
• Maintain documentation for commercial power, generator, UPS, and DC power systems.
• Review, comprehend, and apply design engineering guidelines during project execution.
• Support energy efficiency initiatives and monitor cost avoidance metrics.
• Gather and verify data from energy-related systems (e.g., BMS, EMS).
• Collaborate with IT teams to enhance reporting tools and dashboards.
• Work closely with space design engineers, operations leadership, product teams, and the asset management team to align infrastructure upgrades with business objectives and customer needs.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional planning and execution of brownfield projects, ensuring seamless integration, timely delivery, and adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop and manage project plans, risk assessments, and stakeholder communications throughout the project's lifecycle.
• Travel to field locations for audits, inspections, and technical assistance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
• At least 5 years of experience in data center or mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC power systems, HVAC infrastructure, and energy management.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SKM Power Tool (or similar), CFD tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• LEED Certification is advantageous.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience in overseeing complex engineering projects is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, prioritize tasks, and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, 24x7 operational environment.
