Electric Utility Field Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Reviewing and transferring field design notes into project drawings and material lists.

• Conducting standard calculations and analyses.

• Producing plan and profile design drawings using AutoCAD.

• Applying design standards and specifications for both overhead and underground distribution projects related to electric distribution design.

• Compiling design packages for construction, which involves data entry into various design and infrastructure management software applications such as NISC, NIS, Partner, Futura, and AeGIS to generate construction specifications and material lists.

• Executing quality reviews of project deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred: a two-year technical certificate or degree.

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred: General experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV) and/or a solid understanding of construction processes; a two-year technical certificate or degree; exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.

• Capability to collaborate within design teams, self-motivated to complete assigned tasks, and proactive in learning the trade.

• Proficient computer skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software packages and effectively apply on-the-job training.

• Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook is mandatory.

• Familiarity with design software packages, along with general construction knowledge and aptitude, is preferred.

• Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
