Educational Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Design online training modules for transition professionals and parents of students with visual impairments.

• Create interactive online lessons targeted at students.

• Develop virtual resources for students with visual impairments, their families, and supporting professionals.

• Manage a virtual mentorship program that connects students with adults who have visual impairments.

• Lead an advisory board comprised of individuals who are blind or have low vision.

• Identify and create resources focused on transition.

• Support communities of practice that focus on transition for students with visual impairments.

• Facilitate and enhance a student mentorship program.

• Create and distribute a monthly e-newsletter.

• Give and receive feedback on materials and training developed by the team.

• Assist with data collection and evaluation initiatives.

• Contribute to presentations at conferences and submissions for articles.

• Provide support in supervising students and trainees involved in the project.

• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university students.

• Report both administratively and functionally to the EMPOWER VI Principal Investigator.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in special education, rehabilitation, or another disability-related field is required.

• Professional and/or personal experience in blindness or visual impairment is necessary.

• Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills are required.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team with multiple individuals is essential.

• Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines is necessary.

• Strong computer skills are essential.

• A demonstrated interest in working with and supporting rural communities is required.

• Previous experience in middle or high school teaching and/or administrative roles is preferred.

• Prior experience in delivering training or professional development is preferred.
