This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist reporters and editors in the creation of business journalism.
• Collaborate with the longform/special projects team for the upcoming season of the “How We Survive” climate solutions podcast.
• Propose and produce longform and special projects within the newsroom.
• Engage in group editing and feedback meetings for special projects.
• Support the Managing Editor and Deputies in facilitating daily communication and collaboration across the newsroom.
• Help reporters and editors in sourcing and interviewing contacts.
• Generate and implement concepts for reporter-led stories.
• Acquire skills to submit stories by deadlines and create narration.
• Must be currently enrolled in a college or university, or have graduated within the last 18 months.
• Available for full-time work (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) throughout the duration of the internship.
• Capable of writing clearly and accurately under tight deadlines while working independently.
• Strong skills in organization and communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to learn new software quickly.
• Exhibited interest in audio journalism.
• Preferred: demonstrated interest in journalism, such as published work or experience at a school newspaper/radio.
• Preferred: self-motivated individual eager to learn audio skills.
• Preferred: familiarity with audio and video editing software like Audition, Adobe, or Final Cut.
• A cover letter no longer than one page addressing the specified application questions is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Required to navigate an office environment and sit for prolonged periods.
• Required to move about within the community.
• Frequent hand usage is required for data entry/keystrokes and simple grasping tasks.
