Director, Editorial Programming

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop comprehensive and bipartisan content strategies supported by well-researched plans and top-tier suggestions for speakers and moderators.

• Collaborate with the newsroom as necessary.

• Cultivate, train, coach, and prepare both internal and external moderators.

• Create engaging program schedules and agendas, incorporating innovative and fresh formats.

• Serve as the primary senior guest booker for The Hill’s Summits calendar.

• Maintain connections with communications and scheduling teams, linking editorial leadership with key individuals.

• Oversee the editorial operations managed by the Manager, Editorial Programming.

• Develop partnerships with editorial leadership and senior staff bookers.

• Work alongside the Video & Social Team to share event content with various audiences.

• Collaborate with event marketing to ensure event websites are accurate and updated promptly.

• Draft audience invitation copy that emphasizes key topics and featured speakers.

• Supervise the live main stage program flow, handling segment timing, VIP speaker management, and directing the Production Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in live events, media production, journalism, high-level guest booking, or programming for policy and advocacy events.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain and utilize a well-established network of high-profile political, corporate, and media personalities.

• Comprehensive understanding of national politics, policy matters, and the media landscape.

• Strong commitment to impartial and bipartisan reporting.

• Outstanding leadership, communication, and project management abilities.

• Prior experience in mentoring junior editorial personnel.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-visibility media environment while managing multiple complex event timelines.
