This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Take ownership of athenahealth’s overarching enterprise narrative and annual narrative arc.
• Integrate company strategy, brand strategy, product evolution, customer value, market dynamics, and key moments into a unified annual editorial agenda.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Marketing on product vision, portfolio strategy, innovation agenda, and launch priorities.
• Ensure coherence in enterprise storytelling through collaboration with Brand, Portfolio Marketing, Executive Communications, Internal Communications, campaign teams, and other stakeholders.
• Direct the strategic messaging function and create enterprise-level messaging frameworks.
• Offer narrative frameworks and editorial guidance for executive visibility and voice plans.
• Act as a senior narrative advisor and editorial reviewer for significant campaigns, announcements, thought leadership, and high-profile events.
• Define enterprise thought leadership priorities and identify unique market perspectives.
• Collaborate on research agendas employing original research, proprietary data, customer evidence, and market insights.
• Function as editor-in-chief of athenahealth.com, establishing editorial direction and standards across owned publishing channels.
• Lead the strategy for organic social editorial content.
• Contribute to defining AEO/GEO strategy and integrating performance signals into narrative and messaging priorities.
• Manage the enterprise editorial calendar and governance model.
• Introduce responsible AI-enabled workflows for research, content creation, reuse, quality assurance, and collaboration.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Editorial team while enhancing its capabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, brand strategy, or product marketing.
• Extensive experience specifically in the health tech and/or healthcare sectors.
• Proven ability to develop an enterprise narrative and translate it into an annual editorial agenda or narrative arc.
• Experience in creating strategic messaging frameworks and practical storytelling tools.
• Ability to convert complex product, technology, platform, or business strategies into clear narratives for diverse audiences.
• Exceptional editorial judgment and writing proficiency.
• Experience utilizing audience research, market intelligence, customer insights, performance data, or other evidence to inform narrative strategy.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled editorial tools, narrative measurement, answer-engine optimization, generative-engine optimization, and AI-driven information environments.
• Experience in leading or overseeing organic social editorial strategies.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead cross-functional initiatives across marketing, communications, and other teams in a matrixed organization.
